Sunday was the season debut of the NFL. The Saints faced the Falcons in a one O’clock game at the Georgia Dome. The Saints started off hot and were rolling the Dirty Birds, but right before the half, Matt Ryan went down the Field in twenty two seconds and set up a Matt Bryant fifty yard field goal. That made it 20-10 Saints were up at the half. The second half the Falcons exploded right out the gate and drove down the field and Matt Ryan hit L. Toilolo for a one yard touchdown. That made it 20-17, Saints still with the lead. The Saints went three and out and were forced to punt back to the Hot Falcons. Atlanta was feeling the momentum but who dat nation stood behind them and forced a three and out. The Saints get the ball back and drove down the field into the Red-zone, but a poor choice by Drew Brees sent the ball right into the arms of Atlanta CB R. McClain.

The next drive for the falcons Matt Ryan hit A. Smith with a short screen route, and due to poor tackling by the saints he scored a fifty-four yard touchdown (ESPN). The Saints started the quarter by going eighty yards and finishing it with a three yard run by M. Ingram for a touchdown that made the score 27:24 Saints on top! Two drives later the Falcons drove the length of the field and scored a seventeen yard run by J.Rodgers. the Saints were not going to let this game get away from them though, so they drove another eighty yard drive, and Mark Ingram punched it in from three yards away 34-31 Saints back on top!  With a minute and twenty seconds Matt Ryan lead his team down the field and set up a fifty yard Matt Bryant field goal, this sent the game into OT with the score 34-34 (ESPN)! The saints got the ball first and Brees threw it to Marques Colston for a 10 yard gain, but he fumbled it and gave it to the falcons. Then it was too easy for Mat Bryant, he hit the fifty yarder and won the game for the dirty birds…

The saints will bounce back after this division rival loss! The saints are too good to lose a lot of games in a season. I expect Drew Brees to find Jimmy Graham on more targets and feed him more in the redzone! Expect to see a turn around for this slow start.

If you want to find out more information about this game, leave a comment I will get back to you as fast as I can.

JR, wow! This is a lot of detail from the game! Do you just remember all these facts from the game? So awesome! I like how you broke down each element. Tell me more about how you think this loss will affects the team's moral going forward. Really interested to see how it will change their system.

If the Saints are going to make your prediction come true, they better start winning soon. As a big fan of the Saints, why do you think they lost the first two games? Is their defense suspect? Has Brees lost a step?

Saints should of did better than that. If Drew Brees did not have any fumbles or interception, The Saints could have won the game. If they didn't do that pass play, the Saint's fans wont be embarresed

I agree, with Branden but if the Saints had tried harder they should have won.

It was a bad game for the saints but I expect them to bounce back the next season. They played bad that game, but Drew Brees is a very good quarterback and he didn't have a good season this year. I hope next season that the Saints will bounce back and beat Atlanta or the dirty birds next year.

I do agree that the quarterback for the Saints(Drew Brees) is a good quarterback. He did make it the Pro Bowl and if he does get a few more players that are good, he could go to the playoffs then to the Superbowl. I do hope that this happens so that he will be recognized as a good quarterback to alot more people.

I can't believe that Marquse Colston fumbeled the ball after a 10 yard gain that would have put the Saints into field goal range and even closer to winning the game with a touchdown! I loved the wy you made the game sound extremly tence till the very end! It was like you like you where watching the game right then and there! I am a huge Atlanta Falcons fan and I still felt bad for all the Saints fans out there. Trust me I know how it fells to lose a close game (2013 season)! Do you think this will give them motivation to play better or do you think they will be in a slump all year? Hope they play better for the other 15 games of the season (just not against the Falcons)!

I, personally, think this was a great comeback for the Atlanta Falcons because 20-10 to 37-34 is a great feat, but what i want to know is how did Matt Bryant get a field goal from that distance because that was outstanding how he did it.

I belive that the Saints played really well that game because they were on top of the scoreboard for a long time. Even though they lost the game they made the Falcons go into OT when the falcons were hot. I like the Falcons but I think the Saints played better than the Falcons because they held the Falcons from scoring.

It's crazy what can happen in a football game. I think if the Saints didn't fumble the ball the Saints would have scored the wining touchdown. One thing that threw me off was that it was 20-10 the Saints wining at half time and the Falcons came back 34-34 and then they won in over time. I think both quarterbacks did great, but I just think that Drew Brees could have thrown a little better and if he did he could have maybe prevented the fumble for the win. It was an intense game to watch but it as a good one.

If the Saints focused they could of beat the Falcons but they lost their oppurtionity. They could of beat the Falcons in ease but they made lots of mistakes.

I love the Falcons. I watched that game but in this article made me feel like I was at home watching this game. It was realistic and made me feel like I was there. I also liked how it was simple. By that I mean they didnt say he throws a forward latteral out of pocket. I enjoyed the zest in the words .Overall I enjoyed this.

I do not know much about football but in my opinion the saints seem to be a pretty good team all in all.

The Saints should have won vs the Falcon but they didn't. The next time they play the Super Bowl the Saints have to try to win.

I don't know much about the Falcons, because I watch Alabama, but I noticed you mentioned Mark Ingram and Rolando McClain who both played at Alabama. Roll Tide!
